Il y a quelque mois je démarrais un nouveau chapitre professionnel autour de l'innovation et la coopération (j'en parlais ici).
Afin de nourrir mes pratiques, élargir ma compréhension des enjeux du monde et prendre du recul sur les implications de mes actions, je m'offre actuellement une nouvelle période de formations. Pour cela, j'ai demandé l'avis de plusieurs amis qui travaillent dans des secteurs connexes aux miens (j'en parlais ici). Grâce à leurs apports, mes recherches et mes réflexions, je me suis donc construit un parcours original sur 2017. Une sorte de MBA du XXIe siècle personnalisé... pas un Master in Business Administration... mais un parcours pour un Activisme Bio-inspiré 🍀😜

En plus de grandir personnellement/professionnellement à travers ces expériences, je souhaite partager mes apprentis-sages les plus marquants pendant cette année. J'entame ici un premier retour d'expérience : 3 semaines au Schumacher College.

En substance : J'ai suivi un parcours sur l'écologie, son histoire, son évolution, ses racines dans les grandes traditions, ses relations et challenges dans les représentations du monde actuel. Les cours étaient variés (écologie profonde, danse, christianisme, soufisme, bouddhisme, shamanisme, activisme, cinéma, story telling, ballade en forêt et le long de la rivière de Totnes, dans le Devon, sud-ouest de l'Angleterre), la pédagogie joyeuse tout en étant complète et exigeante (pour la tête, le coeur et les mains). Les participants venaient du monde entier, avec différents parcours (de 22 à 70 ans). Cela m'a permis de m'ouvrir à de nouvelles pensées (comme les auteurs Thomas Berry, Joanna Macy), de mettre en perspective mes projets et de trouver de nouvelles idées d'exécution.
Je me sens privilégié de cette formidable expérience... et ai très envie de la partager... d'en revivre d'autres 😉
Understanding the world could sometimes call to expand one’s world view. I came to the Schumacher College for a period of breathing and it completely blew my mind. For many years, I have been engaged in innovation (business, technological, social, environmental), through various places, from both a collective and individual perspective (within a large company, as an entrepreneur, and as a citizen). At Schumacher, I found a place which connected a lot of dots in my journey and opened to me new perspectives. The Ecological Self class that I went through is a fair illustration of the academic approach of the Schumacher College. Integrated into the Ecology & Spirituality Master, this 3 weeks module offered several frames to understand the world we live in, its historical dynamics, its possible evolutions and gave us keys to play a role as a servant leader. Ten years ago, I was considering to apply for a MBA (Master in Business Administration): here I explored what could be a “Master in Biosphere Activism”.
Here are some examples of the content we went through (“what we learned”)
- deep ecology: how intense experiences with nature can open strong questions around life and leadership,
- the place of spirituality and inner transformations related to the world’s evolutions & crisis,
- the story of the universe, from the Big Bang to now: how life and consciousness are expending,
- what Sufism and Buddhism could bring us in order to live in an interconnected world,
- how stories structure our ways of looking the world; how to build and share our own stories,
- an exploration of shamanism acknowledging invisible links all around us,
- what are the roles of rituals and sacred spaces in our modern lives,
- how to embody the changes and the interconnections, dancing with the flow,
- how to connect with trees, birds, rivers, elements,
- …
Here are some elements about the container (“how we learned”)
- head, heart and hands: holistic approach, engaging our analytical abilities, our intuitions and our capacity to make thing happen,
- world view: the variety of content doesn’t just offer a large range of interesting “things to know”, it is opening new perspectives on the purpose of Life (ex.: “moving from a collection of objects, to a communion of subjects”, Thomas Berry),
- micro and macro, intimacy and big picture: we frequently move from one scale to the other, as a fractal world, watching implications of individual choices for the communities and for the ecosystems,
- living diversity: people come from all around the world, from various backgrounds. I met people from 23 to 75yo.
- the work that reconnects: Della brought great a unique energy to the group, from her personality and her methods. Inspired by Joanna Macy and “the Great Turning”, “the work that reconnects” offered us the opportunity to dive into deep conversations through an inspiring authenticity,

The College is thus an incredible place to grow. The place is also made by its people. How amazing is the atmosphere here! Founders, professors, staff, volunteers, students: all are contributors.
